Welcome to the Scraps of Color Creative Team Blog Hop! Join us for a weekend of fun, creativity and prizes! All weekend long you’ll have the chance to create fun projects, be inspired and win! Get your crafty mojo flowing...just follow the 1st SOC Creative Team Blog Hop!
If you are here and following the blog hop then you are in the right place. However if you have just happened upon my blog and would like to join in the hop please start at the beginning of the hop here and work your way through each blog. Please leave blog love (comments) along the way and become a follower of the blogs you like so that you can be notified of their new creations and updates!
My project for the hop is something many of you know I enjoy creating and doing! I love making sketches! I love using those sketches to jumpstart my creativity and I love immediately creating cards with the scraps whenever I make a layout and then I toss the scraps! Yes...I toss the scraps! I only use patterns 1 time in my books, for one layout only and then I move on. I've got too many patterned papers to use to try to hold on to scraps! Shocking! LOL!
I created this sketch and I used it as inspiration for the following layout. I decided to tilt the sketch layout to create a unique look for my layout. By letting a sketch serve as a jumpstart, you are able to use it in a variety of ways. No need to use it exactly as it is. You can flip it, turn it or just use one element: the photo layout or the paper layout for your creation. Sketches are a great way to get more pages done, quickly!
This layout is the 2nd page of a 2 page layout. The 1st page can be seen in the premiere issue of Scraps of Color Scrapbook Magazine page 76.
This is the card, I created using the scraps. I also used the sketch as inspiration for my card! Love the rosettes and the beautiful colors in this patterned paper.
And guess what? There's more! A little bit of blog candy! I’m offering a copy or two of my book Sketch Inspired Layouts. With this downloadable, pdf book you'll get great sketches, wonderful layout ideas for using your sketches and tips for using your sketches again and again. How do I enter? You ask. Just check out the premiere issue of Scraps of Color Scrapbook Magazine, find my creations and tell me which is your favorite and why AND/OR you can use the sketch above as inspiration to create a layout this weekend. Leave a comment with a link to your creation and you are entered. Do both and you'll get two entries. Entries must be posted by Sunday, March 20, 2011 11:59pm est. Woohoo! (psst! Just leave me a little love and you'll get another entry too! That's a chance for 3 entries! And I'll throw in A Sketch a Day Volume 1 with over 365 sketches for a winner or 2. Winner/s must have 2 or more entries to qualify for both books!)
I hope you enjoyed my project! Here is the list of participating blogs. I've made them clickable to make it easier for you to follow the hop. Don't forget to stop by and visit everyone. Remember that some of SOC Creative Team Members are offering blog candy and you never know where you'll find it. Leave some blog love and enjoy!

Love your Love layout on page 18 of SOC. I really like how you cut the quote in half and offset the 2 pieces. Also love how you embellished the flower. The pleated ribbon and the colors you choose make it look manly. Great layout.

Great sketch. Love how you use the scraps from your layouts to make a card right away. I really should start doing that.
