Tagged: 7 Fun Facts About Me!

I've been tagged by Shelly!

Here's what I have to do:* Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.* Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.* Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

This is actually from a post I shared on the Happy Healthy Forum on Classy Scrapper Messae Board thought it would fit just fine with this challenge!  LOL!

1. I'm 30lbs lighter than when I got married 10 years ago!

2. I'm walking 5 days a week now, instead of 3-4.

3. I started strength training and core training this week. 3 days 10 minutes of strength training per day, 2 days 10 minutes of core training. Ummmmm...this is an absolute 1st for me...gotta get rid of my tummy and love handles...can you say, "BATHING SUIT IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC" in December for my 40th Birthday! Yeh Baby!

4. It took me to lose my first 60lbs for people to actually notice! Now I'm getting tons of comments/compliments! Well it's about time!

5. I really, really want a scoop of Starbucks Coffee Ice Cream! Why in the world don't they sell ice cream at Starbucks...so I can just have one scoop! I sure don't want to buy a quart, just to get a scoop!

6. It took this long for me to start feeling really, really good about all my efforts. Now all I can think is why did I allow myself to gain so much weight. I've still got 50 lbs to go. I was so unconscious for all those years. Not being honest with myself about my size, how difficult doing simple things had become, not being aware/ignoring how the weight and eating habits can and had created illness in my life. Now, I just want to share it with the world and help others reach their goals!

7. Last but not least...one of my most wonderful rewards is that when my dh hugs me he can wrap his arms around me! Feels so good!

I'm tagging:   Lisa, Linda, Cynta, Angie, Aysha, Veroncia and Renee.

Have a Great Weekend!

Drink Water for Your Health!

This Week's Love Your Heart, Love Yourself Challenge is to DRINK WATER!

We depend on water for survival!  Water has been ranked by experts as second only to oxygen as essential for life. We need lots of fresh water to stay healthy. Aside from aiding in digestion and absorption of food, water regulates body temperature and blood circulation, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, and removes toxins and other wastes. Water also cushions joints and protects tissues and organs, including the spinal cord, from shock and damage. Conversely, lack of water (dehydration) can be the cause of many ailments/illnesses.

Among its other benefits, water plays a major part in weight loss. Since water contains no calories, it can serve as an appetite suppressant, and helps the body metabolize stored fat, it may possibly be one of the most significant factors in losing weight. Also, drinking more water helps to reduce water retention by stimulating your kidneys. Studies have recommended that if you are overweight according to average height and weight comparison charts, you should add one glass of water to your daily requirement (of eight glasses) for every 25 pounds over your recommended weight.

Dehydration leads to excess body fat, poor muscle tone & size, decreased digestive efficiency & organ function, increased toxicity, joint & muscle soreness, & water retention.

My challenge to you this week is to get the daily recommended amount of water in each day according to your own height and weight, as well as activity level.  Remember you need more water if you active.

Water is my beverage of choice!  It's the only thing I drink each day other than a glass of Organic Concord Grape Juice. Therefore, getting water in each day is EASY for me...but may not be for many.  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Drink a glass before and after each meal.
  • Replace one beverage/soda/juice with a glass of water and slowly increase the number of glasses over the next few weeks with a glass of water.
  • By a LARGE water bottle and sip water from it all day.  You may need to fill it more than once.  If so strive to finish the first by 1pm and then the 2nd by 6-8pm.

Now go forth this week and Love Your Heart, Love Yourself and DRINK WATER!!!  Feel free to share your tips for getting your water in here.
