A GOOD Weekend!

Aaaahhhh!  What a nice weekend I've had.  This year we headed to Chattanooga the day after Thanksgiving to meet my inlaws.  They are thinking of relocating there from Biloxi, MS.  We had a great time.  Before, we even checked in to our hotel dh and I drove straight to the scrapbook store!  What  a man!  Yay!  I was surprised.  This was his idea.  First stop, The Crop Shop in Chattanooga.  They moved since my last years visit!  Wow!  The space is much smaller but lots of inventory. Only bought a couple of items here. I was hoping for a great after Thanksgiving Sale.  They did have one but I think it was something like 40% off paper with purple in it and 40% off Pet and Family themed items between noon and 1pm.  I couldn't keep up with the that...so on to the next store, Scrapbook Heaven in Hixson, TN (Chattanooga).  Now this is my kind of store, nicely organized, great patterned paper selection and a little less pricey.  Extremely friendly staff and when I walked in, I was told to grab a Hershey's Kiss and look at the bottom, the number on the bottom represented my % off of my purchase.  25%, not bad!  I loved that idea and immediately felt like spending some money and I felt very welcome in the store!  So I did....got some pretty patterned papers, the Fastenator, staples to go with it and some really cute fabric tabs by Making Memories and more!  And to top it all off, I got to pull from a bucket for a possible door prize and I won!  Yay!  Got a cool metal tool kit!  Thanks to the Scrapbook Heaven!  I will be there many times in the future should my inlaws decide to relocate.

Well, there was plenty of shopping and eating all weekend long, but I won't bore you with all the details of my pretty new outfits, delicious ribs and burgers, scrumptious mocha milkshakes and more.  I'll just say I had a great time and I gotta go...so I can play with all my new scrappin' goodies!

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving and saved at the many after Thanksgiving Day sales!

Chia Pets in ourYard!!!

So what do you do when you look out in the yard and you see that your husband has over-fertilized in spots and you have Chia Pets growing in different spots????  You scrapbook it!  LOL!  This was so funny to me!  I woke up one morning and noticed them everywhere and said, "Honey, there are Chia Pets all over our yard, what happened?"  His response, "Uuuuuhhhh, I'll take care of that."  LOL!  So, I ran to get the camera and a little over a year later...I have finally  captured the moment in my scrapbook!

Enjoy,

Tiare.

Kudos for Classy Coordinates!!!

I found the post below on a message board I participate on and I had to share it with everyone.  I was suprised to see it and simply touched that she took the time to write it and be honest with her thoughts!  Thanks Maxine!

Tiare.

A couple of months ago, I decided to join Tiare's scrapbook club, Classy
Coordinates
. I figured if I am going to be an advocate for women of color in scrapbooking, I need to support a woman of color in the business.

I was not expecting much. Just figured that her monthly kits would be stacked on top of my other kits in the corner of my scraproom. Hey, I'm just supporting a sistah, right?

Well, the first kit came and I thought........this is really nice! But I am a big fan of Basic Grey so I figured it was just a stroke of luck to get something appealing. The embellishments included in that kit made me drool too. OK, I thought, let's see what next month brings.

Then I saw this month's kit on the Classy Coordinates website and
thought................eeww, brown flowers...........what was she thinking? Well, the Nov kit arrived today and now I am eatting my words.

First of all, the paper is by Scenic Route and it is true eye candy! Two sided print, heavy paper with the most gorgeous script overprint. I can't believe this is the same paper I was frowning at. And all of the paper (10 pages!)coordinates perfectly together! (I don't mix and match that well, so this is atrue blessing to me!) That, plus the 7 Gypsies embellishments, ribbon, index tabs and Scenic Route Alphabets make this a wonderful kit that will actually get put to use.

And the newsletter was the icing on the cake! Great sketches and tips for those of us who need a little boost when it comes to creative ideas.

I am seeing Classy Coordinates in a new light. A great monthly kit with the latest and greatest products, all moderately priced, neatly packaged and arrives on time every month. Tiare is holding her own with the larger, kit of the month companies and I get great pleasure in knowing that one of our own is owner and operator of this up and coming kit club.

Tiare, I apologize for having my doubts. I am now convinced that you are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the scrapbooking business and I am now not only supporting a sistah, but believing in her too!

Best wishes to you and all of your endeavors! I am behind you 100% and hope that others will give Classy Coordinates a try too!

Humbled,
Maxine

One of My Favorite Layouts!

I just love this layout!  It's definitely one of my favorite (recently completed) layouts.  I love the color and the variety of elements I used on the layout.  It was just simply fun to work on.

Of course, you know who it is.  LOL!  My niece, Ayanna, who else!  LOL!  She was 5 on these pictures and it was during her first visit here, she was very sad and missing her mommy and daddy very much.  Now she is 7 and wants to visit all the time.  I asked if she remembered being sad and wanting to go home and her response was, "I don't do that anymore.  I was only 5 years old then."  Uuuummmppphhh!  Well excuse me..big girl!  LOL!

Enjoy!

Little Miss Trouble!

Ah...yes...no words could be more true!  LOL!  These are pictures I took of my niece during a visit in 2003, when we first moved to Atlanta.  This was the first time she had stayed with us for more than 1 night.  She was here (along with my mom and younger brother) for a week.  This is the shirt she had on the day they were leaving.  Well, of course, after a week of having my ears talked off, broken items in the house, watchign cartoons, coloring, reading, baking, playing, playing, playing and playing...did I say playing?.. this shirt was completely appropriate.  LOL!  Honestly, I loved every minute.  She is my girl!

Enjoy,

Tiare.
